Why do we organize our courses in blocks of 4 weeks?
Answer –
Since we started the Actors Platform workshops in 2007 we have always offfered our casting workshops in blocks of 6 weeks. It was done as a way to best keep the costs of workshops down and administer the busy continuous courses so that we can provide a weekly, on-going, service to actors to keep them connected with the industry.
Booking in weeks of 4 helps everyone in the following ways:We can keep the costs of the courses low.Actors get to work with the same people each week. They develop friendships and connections between each other. They also become more comfortable in their environment and with their fellow actors and do their best work in front of the casting directors. We can send the actor’s information to the casting directors ahead of time so that they can prep and, more often than not, send sides.Actors get to work with a wide range of casting professionals. For every course we aim to book a variety of casting directors – from stage, TV and film. Some will be well-known and other may be up and coming. What we often find interesting is that many actors often prefer the workshops with lesser-known casting directors – someone they might not have thought to work with if only booking a single workshop. It limits the amount of administration work we have to do. We can spend our time researching and booking the best casting directors rather than managing a weekly rotating roster of actors.
There has never been any ill-intent in the basis for setting our workshops up like this (as some new competitors might try and suggest ;o) Educational courses of all kinds are more often than not set up in this very way.
You, the actor, know exactly what you are getting – we advertise the names and biographies of the Casting Directors taking part on the website and it is up to you to decide if you are interested in working with those casting directors.
But what if you only want to work with one of the casting directors?
You can book onto any single workshop with a Drop-In place. This is slightly more expensive but we wanted to offer the option for flexibility. Click here to sign up for a drop-in place.
