Creative Producer Wanted

The Cock Tavern Theatre has firmly established itself at the forefront of the London Fringe by winning the prestigious Dan Crawford Pub Theatre Award at the Peter Brook Empty Space Awards. Formed in January 2009, under the artistic leadership of Adam Spreadbury-Maher the theatre runs a bold programme of new writing alongside select revivals. Resident company OperaUpClose's production of La Boheme ran for a record-breaking 6 months this year; it transfers to the Soho Theatre in July. Resident theatre company Good Night Out Presents has produced over 20 productions at The Cock, as well as other London venues. Notable productions include Peter Gill's The York Realist, Daniel Reitz's Studies For A Portrait (both Time Out Critics' Choice) and Nick Ward's The Present.

The Cock Tavern Theatre is a full-time producing venue, operating a challenging model in which the theatre is completely unfunded and financially relies on box office receipts, born from a fierce commitment to quality work and maintaining and developing our reputation. The theatre is expanding quickly as we implement our new producing model and we have created a new creative producer role to project manage productions at The Cock. Other duties will include a share of the theatre's financial and general management and working on other specialist areas of production led by The Cock's co-producers.

While the theatre follows our own production lifecycle and model, we are looking for producers with their own unique style and flare, and producers with diverse professional backgrounds are welcome to apply. Knowledge and experience of producing in an unfunded environment is essential, as well as a hunger for changing the face of British theatre as The Cock continues to position itself as a leading theatre venue.

This is a graduate or early career salaried full-time position. Please email producers@cocktaverntheatre.com by 4pm Tuesday 22nd June 2010. No postal applications please.
